And So It Begins Anew

Hey all! Welcome to my new blog. I'll save introductions because I believe most of you arrived at this page through my facebook. As you probably guessed, I'm pretty bored so I decided to pass the time with writing what's on my mind as I sit at the computer for your reading pleasure.

My goal for this blog (not unlike like Nick's was for his nursing program) is to detail my adventures through graduate school in the community counseling program. Since I will only be in class twice a week, other blog posts will deal with things going on in my life (because you totally want to know about it) and my thoughts on video games. Classes don't start until next week, so I've got this entire week free to do cool things with cool people. And even then, my classes run 6-9 at night. So free up your daytime schedule for me.

As an awkward segue, Tuesdays seem to be good for people to make Top 5 lists so I'm going to do it too.

Today's Top 5 List is: My Top 5 Video Games of All Time

5) Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (PC, GC, PS2, XBox)

This was when the Prince was awesome. In Sands of Time, the Prince was a very likable hero where you actually care about him and his story. The developers screwed up in the following games by deciding to throw heavy metal into the mix and make the Prince angsty and emo. They could have at least kept the same voice actor and they wouldn't have been so bad. The only reason this game isn't higher up on this list is because every enemy (yeah, even the endboss) can be killed with one move: the wall spring. The ending sequence is one of my favorite endings to any game ever.

4) Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)

This was the game that got me into strategy RPGs. The story made absolutely no sense to me back in the day and I doubt it'll make much sense if I played it again today. What made this game awesome was that you had the freedom to make an army of whatever you want. If you wanted all dragoons, you got em. All black mages? Yup. A team of calculators? Of course. Personally, I went with an entire team of monks. They were way overpowered and kicked so much ass.

3) Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)

Some people have argued that games are an art. If there's one game that is the epitome of art in games, it's this. The art direction as well as the soundtrack were phenomenal. I feel like this game was very under appreciated. The only two people I know who've played this masterpiece are myself and Tony. And this saddens me. What I loved about this game is that there is little to no story, so you take from the game what you want and you create your own story behind it. If there's one game I would recommend above the others on this list, it would be this game.

2) Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

The spiritual successor to Super Mario 64 is, to me, the best mario game in the series. It took everything about mario 64 and improved upon it. This is also one of the few Wii games that actually looks like it's a Wii game and not a Gamecube port. The only thing that really suffered was the soundtrack. Despite it being orchestrated, none of it was really memorable. Something else I loved about this game is that you don't have to sit down and play it for hours on end. I mean, you can, but it's so easy to just pick it up if you've got 15 minutes to spare and want to collect one or two stars before work/school.

1) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)

Twilight Princess is better than Ocarina of Time. Learn to deal.

So that's my list for this week. Hopefully I be this bored tomorrow and post something you'll actually want to read.

~Oosh!
